GOLDEN EAGLE HEALTH FAIRS

Golden Eagle Hospital, Cangalli, Bolivia

Golden Eagle has provided Health Fairs for the last four years in Cangalli, Bolivia. These "Fairs" are an annual event with people coming from Cangalli, as well as many surrounding communities. Over 30 doctors, interns, medical students and laboratory technicians are transported by Golden Eagle from La Paz to Cangalli and are fed and housed during the four day Health Fair.

In order to more fully meet the medical needs of the community, Golden Eagle sponsored a Masters in Public Health Administrator to assess the needs and resources of the town. From this information, we have been able to design a team of doctors and nurses, who come from La Paz annually for several days, with the specialties that are needed for the area.

They provide free comprehensive physicals and consultations, ob-gyn consultations, parasite analysis and control; eye and vision examinations; and the full range of vaccinations. A special focus is given to the children of Cangalli--providing them with all of their childhood vaccinations, as well as instruction in basic hygiene and preventative measures for preserving their health. Additionally, employees of Golden Eagle are treated at the hospital, as well as given seminars on industrial safety and first aide.
